Vent Your Fire, Baby

You must blog when you are in the right frame of mind, at the time when your heart is churning with the fire that set you alight in the first place.

I missed that moment.

After filling my stomach, taking a long, hot shower and a tall glass of cool water afterwards, I’m as much on fire as a purring kitten.

*sigh*

So, the people I intended to trash on this space are spared for the moment. The rants about the shortfalls of my life are stowed away once more, and once again, I have nothing interesting to write.

Till next time, hasta la vista baby.

Here’s my penny.

Surely there must be more to life than money? Everything we do seems to be focused on one thing: money. Usually in the context of getting more of it.

I’m tired of this stupid game, but how do I live without those little scraps of paper? How do I bring smiles to the faces of my loved ones if I don’t earn some form of currency? How do I buy the painkillers I need? How do I settle the bills? How do I live? How frustrating!!!

I wake up in pain every single day. On cold days, it hurts even more.. so much that I feel like going back to sleep and never waking up again. Even so.. the call of those little pieces of paper is sufficient to make me forget about my pain just for a little while.. until the next time I open my eyes to the sound of the alarm.

Picture of the Day.

Heart-wrenching words

Heart-wrenching words

Lucid

Love the new look in my blog! So misty… so dreamy.. so me…

Sunset on the beach

Gosh, I’ve been so busy lately! Lots of things to do at work.. and my weekends are full too. Even if there is some ‘free’ time, Lim always has some plan that I am not aware of… so being his PA I have to tag along. *sigh*

We went to Kota Kinabalu for a vacay recently. The reason we chose KK is a looong story. In short, I realise certain people are damn lalang one. Geez. Neways, the stay there was pretty ok. We stayed at Tune Hotel at 1 Borneo, which is a new mall in KK. Really nice place, the mall. And they had Charles and Keith there. Oooh.. I was drooling.. but we were on a tight budget, so no new shiny shoes for me. Tune Hotel is quite cheap.. all in all we spent less than 300 for a 3 day and 4 night stay there. But then, cheap comes with some trade-offs, of course. The lobby is in the same space with 7-Eleven, you have to prepay for air-conditioning, TV and towels.. and they don’t change your towels and sheets. So don’t go throwing your towels on the floor like I did, hahaha. We also didn’t know that the city center is so frikkin far away from the hotel, so we had to spend a bomb on taxi fares. Good thing we had a good friend to rely on. On the last day, Mizan and his friend Fariz (I think) from Ranau took us around to Poring and Kinabalu Park. I had so much fun! :-) The weather was great.

we spent a day on the islands too. Oooh.. it was just so nice. I love the beach. We tried the scubadoo which is an underwater scooter at Manukan Island. We got to feed the fish 5m underwater! I’ve never been diving, so this was a pretty neat experience for me.

I can’t wait for another long holiday. I never appreciated the term holidays during university.. abuthen that time no money.. so cannot jalan oso..

Looking forward to the Jazz Fest this Friday. Mata, you’d better have the tickets ready! Hehe

If you have no dial tone on your fixed line, call 1-300-88-8123 if you can’t find another fixed line to call 100.

My phone line is dead again. This is about the 2nd time this has happened. Overall, I’ve has so many problems with telekom/streamyx services; bills, subscriptions, problems connecting to the internet, etc. No wonder there are so many blogs out there of people complaining. I had no such problems with my previous line.

Maybe it’s time they had a real competitor. Same goes to Astro (although I don’t subscribe, I’ve heard the same complaints again and again.)

I am not a fan of Fanbox

Okay, I’ve typed this three times already because for some reason, my browser keeps refreshing this window. hmmph!

People, pay attention!! Fanbox is a phishing site (like fishing, a lure is cast to catch fish - you are the fish!!). Everytime you ‘login’ to your email or instant messenger from Fanbox, you are actually giving them access to your address book, in which Fanbox will send emails to all of your contacts. I get emails from some of you who have ’signed up’ with Fanbox to answer quizzes, or to sign up myself, konon nya like Facebook or Friendster. These emails are now directed to my spam box, but I just wanted to let you know what’s going on.

Fanbox is by the former ‘free’ text messaging site, sms.ac. (You can type Fanbox scam in Google and get more info). I bet there are some of you who are familiar with that name, and I know that some people got duped into paying alot for sms services they didn’t subscribe to.

For those who have ’signed up’ with Fanbox, don’t worry, change your email password immediately, and be careful about sites that ask you for login details next time. It’s usually quite easy to tell, besides asking for you login details (obviously) the MSN/ Yahoo/ Google icons usually are not quite right, and the page is not secured (like a https site or a little lock icon in your address bar). Last but not least, STOP SPAMMING ME! :-P

Amazon Kindle

I want an Amazon Kindle! I’ve read about electronic paper a few years back and this is a great way to put it to use.

Imagine going truly paperless with this thing. No need for bookshelves sagging with yellowing paperbacks. And you are connected almost anywhere!! You can buy a new book practically anytime you want. That’s good news for someone like me. (May cause serious financial problems though, haha)

Too bad it is only available in the US. I hope they come up with a Kindle for people outside the US, and maybe with local content as well. I’ll be the first in line to get it when that happens.

Kindle

Beeps, I think you’ll love this too!

*Watch the video, it gives an excellent demonstration of the Kindle.

Fire Breakout in Phase 2!

About 10 minutes ago, I saw thick, black smoke engulfing the second block of Phase 2. I was alerted by the sirens of the first fire engine to arrive. A lot of people have congregated around block 1, especially at the side facing the road. I heard some shouting and there looked like there was a lot of confusion.

From my point of view (on the study table in the master bedroom) I do not see any visible flames.

A few minutes later, 2 fire trucks and a patrol car arrived.

I hope to find out what really happened there.

Clean

In my opinion, nothing beats a good, long rest at home during a holiday. I got to do exactly that today. Did the usual I do on holidays: woke up late, looong hot shower, ate brunch of fried eggs n burgers (yes I know, fattening, gimme a break it’s a holiday besides i had a serving of fruit), watched tv and read a book. The only thing that spoiled it was that he wasn’t around.

To pass the time while ironing, I had a mini movie marathon. I started off with Barnyard. I love that show. Nothing too heavy.. cute animals, especially the pig and the contortion mouse, and good animation. Second came Borat! Cultural learnings of America for make benefit glorious nation of Kazakhstan. I was speechless throughout the movie. I actually had to sit down a few times. Never have I seen anything so utterly gross. Funny sometimes, but overall just plain stupid. I am never going to watch it again.

I watched Hairspray and Fragile recently as well. Hairspray was everything you could ask for in a musical. Happy, happy, happy! Even through the problems the protagonist had to face, you could see her smiling and predictably, it wasn’t much of a struggle to overcome. Fragile was disturbing. I have watched horror movies with more kick than that. I was put off by the few ‘appearances’ of the ghost in question and when she did decide to make an appearance… I saw saggy boobs in a bondage outfit. Reeeeaallllyy disturbing.

It rained at least twice today. Nice heavy pouring showers. If I were younger and had my own garden, I wouldn’t hesitate to run out there and just get soaked in it. I think it’s the white noise and the low rumbles of thunder.. they soothe me.

Did you know that in some movies, low frequencies of sound is inserted? It’s not audible, but it makes the listener feel very uncomfortable and uneasy. Just something I picked up from acoustics class. So next time you get a queasy feeling before the actual horror scene in a movie, it’s probably a cheap tactic to make you scared when there’s actually no big deal (read lousy scene).

Time for another hot shower.
